What Exactly Is Online Personal Training?

Online personal training is a new way to deliver physical fitness results to people who, for one reason or another, do not find it convenient to go in to a fitness facility. Perhaps they have erratic or late work schedules. Maybe they are too shy or embarrassed to work out in front of other people. Some clients just want to save some money by working with a personal trainer from their home. An online personal training business encompasses several points of service.

First, you need to assess the client’s fitness and set up a program for him. You can have him send measurements, photos, clothing sizes, and his weight to help you determine his fitness level. You can help him discover his nutritional awareness by having him fill out a food diary that you supply on your website. Once you have an accurate picture of his physical status, you can design a program for him.

You will need to instruct him in exercise techniques. An online personal training program includes video demonstrations of exercises that need to be done. There should be an entire catalogue of videos – one for each exercise that must be done so that it can be easily looked up on the spur of the moment. There are great resources out there that show hundreds of exercises done in the proper format.

A good online personal training program will also have a nutritional element along with the exercises. Having a diet and meal plan for your online personal training client is key. . Now, you must work with him to help him understand the diet and follow it. It is important to help him understand what to do if he goes off the diet.

To make online personal training really work, you need direct contact with your client. It is a good idea to have weekly Skype or phone conferences with your client.  A live in person coaching session with her once every week or two is also very helpful. That way, you can help the client overcome any problems she is having, or find out if it is time to reassess her program. You need to keep monitoring her progress all through the process.

One thing an online personal training program must always take into account is encouragement. People need to be urged on to do their best. They need to be told that if they try, they will succeed. If you give your clients this kind of service, you can work with a large number of personal training clients through an online program, do it well, and make a profit.
