Top Rewards to Give Personal Training Clients

Clients who have truly committed to a personal training program expend tremendous amounts of energy, put in huge amounts of effort, and sometimes make extreme sacrifices to meet their health goals. Serious training is not easy for most people, and they should be rewarded for their accomplishments. Here are the top rewards you, as a personal trainer, can give them.

1. Personal training clients will appreciate recognition when they meet goals.

You should always make it a point to acknowledge each personal training client who has reached a new level in their fitness program. Send them a card or an email to let them know you have noticed their progress. Speak to them personally and congratulate them on their victory.

2. Ask your personal training clients if they would like to inspire others.

Many clients will feel honored and respected if you tell them that you would like to share their success with others. If they give permission, announce their names and accomplishments at the fitness classes, in the bulletins and newsletters and on your blog. When someone is having a difficult time staying motivated, ask your successful client if she would like to encourage that person with her own story of triumph. This may sound like work for some, and some will refuse you, but many people will see this as a gratifying reward of a tough personal training program.

3. Plan an outdoor adventure for your client who increases his fitness level.

This is a great reward because, not only is it an exciting activity, but it is also a chance to try out his leaner, more muscular body in a new way. The day can be fun, and if you have more than one personal training client who is ready for such a reward, you can make a true group celebration of it.

4. Give the client a free makeover for extra special accomplishments.

You can bring in a hairdresser who can both fix your client’s hair and also show her how to redo the style for herself the next time. Have a makeup artist on hand to show your client tips on doing her lipstick, blush and mascara. Get a manicurist to show your client how to do her nails in a way that will not interfere with her personal training routines, but will look attractive at the same time.

5. Take an exceptional client on a shopping spree for new clothes.

This is the perfect reward for a personal training client who has literally remade his body. Perhaps he has gone from being thin and willowy to being strong and muscular, or maybe he started out very obese. If the change is dramatic, he deserves an amazing reward. As a personal trainer who cares about retention and the continued success of his clients, you will want to make sure he gets the reward he deserves.
