The Twitter community is a great place to find personal training clients to increase your business. Twitter gives you a way to communicate with a large group of people on the spur of the moment. There are so many ways to use Twitter to gain personal training clients that you would be short-sighted not to take advantage of them.
First, set up a Twitter account if you have not already done so. In any case, you should create a profile that is direct and to the point, describing yourself as a personal trainer with your special qualifications. You only have 160 characters to have your say, so make it concise.
Next, get out on Twitter and find people to follow. You cannot make people follow you, but if you follow other people you are more likely to get followers. When you follow people, you will learn about them and get a feel for their wants and needs.
Use Twitter Search to find Tweets about personal training and physical fitness subjects. Follow people who are talking about these areas of interest and get in on the conversations. It is never a good idea to sell yourself aggressively on Twitter, or any fitness social networking site for that matter. However, you can mention that you are a personal trainer if it is relevant to the interactions that are going on at the time.
Post Tweets regularly. People who have followed you will see your Tweets and might Retweet them if they are very compelling. This spreads your Tweets to a wider audience. You can make your Tweets extremely informative to get better exposure.
Establish yourself as an expert and an authority on the subject of physical fitness. Get into details about physical fitness subjects. Details are interesting and general observations are boring. Anything you can do to up the interest level will increase the number of people who see your Tweets.
When people begin to interact with you, ask questions. Take a poll of how many people have done a certain exercise in the last week, for example. People will respond to polls that apply to their situation. If you can strike a chord with the people, they will interact with you directly.
Once you have begun direct interactions, you can start your Twitter relationships in earnest. Get to know your followers. If someone shows special interest, send them a Direct Message offering them a discount or a free personal training session.
The goal with Twitter is to establish relationships and let them take you where you want to go. Since you are a personal trainer, your interactions will naturally lead you to people who are interested in physical fitness. It is just a short step further to interest them in your services and win them as clients for your personal training business.
