Personal training equipment comes in all shapes and sizes, but some of the items are simply in the category of essential equipment. You do not have to get every piece of equipment available to start your personal trainer business, but you will need these basics to get the job done.
1. Dumbbells and Bench
If you have a set of dumbbells and a bench to use them on, you can cover a large number of exercises. With just this simple equipment, you can help your clients lose weight, improve their muscle tone in their arms and upper body and increase their bone density and strength. By doing exercises such as squat thrusts, they can even tone their lower body and legs. A padded, adjustable bench will make your clients more comfortable and help them be more motivated to press on.
2. Fitness Workouts Step
You can provide your client with a step fitness routine for cardiovascular health and increased leg strength. The step is a very inexpensive piece of equipment for the value you get from it. Plus, your client will be able to do the exercises at home, on her stair step, on a homemade step or with a fitness step she has purchased.
3. Recumbent Bike
A recumbent bike will help you train your clients while making their backs feel better at the same time. They will improve their cardiovascular health and the muscular tone of their legs. Recumbent bikes can be used as a part of a complete personal training package you can put together for your client.
4. Elliptical Trainer or Treadmill
There is really no need to have both an elliptical trainer and a treadmill when you are starting out. If your budget is very low, you will probably opt for the treadmill, although the elliptical trainer might give a better workout than most treadmills. This type of equipment increases your client’s endurance, along with his general fitness level.
5. Functional Fitness Machine
If you can at all afford to get a functional fitness machine, it will take the place of many of the specialized pieces of equipment you might get if you had a bigger budget. It provides your client with a workout for his whole body when it is used to its maximum potential. While you might consider a functional machine a luxury, it is actually a very basic piece of equipment for the beginning personal trainer business. If you can get it, along with the other essential equipment, you will be ready to train your clients to be fit and healthy in every way.
